Self-Direction in Mental Health Broadcast Series

This series of three training webcasts, each ninety minutes in length, produced by the Substance and Mental Health Services Administration introduce the viewer to principles, models and tools of self-directed care within mental health. The following topics are presented.

1. Self-Direction and Its Relationship to Mental Health. Principles and Tools of Self-Direction. What we have learned and the data that supports self-direction in mental health.

Self-Direction in Mental Health Training Slides

On November 6, 2008 the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services presented a national AudioNet training on Self-Direction Mental Health. The training provided a summary of self-direction requirements in Medicaid, perspectives from a Florida State Mental Health Commissioner and mental health consumer on self-directed care, and an overview of Home and Community Based Services ----Section 1915(c) Waiver Programs and Section 1915(i) State Plan Options and Section 1915(j)---the Self-Directed Personal Assistance State Plan Option. This website provides the slides used during the training.
